Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni
In 2017, Virat Kohli took the helms of Indian cricket team captainship from MS Dhoni. Since then, Virat has become the skipper for the team in all three formats and has produced great results.
As a result, many have started to compare Kohli and Dhoni in terms of their skills to lead a team. While both players have produced results for the team, Virat is yet to win an ICC trophy for the team.
This could change on June 18, when India will be playing against New Zealand in Southampton. The inaugural trophy of ICC World Test Championship is on the line. Things could tilt in Virat’s favor after that finals, but the debate will never end.
Speaking of this debate, Indian spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal was asked this very question in an interview. Yuzvi answered in the best way possible as he said, “Both”
Who is a better captain for India? MS Dhoni or Virat Kohli?
No disrespect to Virat, but this goes without saying that as of now, MS is miles ahead of him in terms of leading the national team. During his stint as a skipper, Dhoni won numerous trophies for his country. The most important trophy for MS was none other than the ICC World Cup 2011.
Moreover, Dhoni played a memorable knock in the finals of the tournaments. He scored 91* in the most important game of his career and finished things off in style. Apart from the World Cup trophy, captain cool also won, the ICC T20 World Cup, ICC Championship Trophy, and countless series wins.
In fact, Dhoni is the only player to win all ICC trophies as a captain for his team. Keeping everything in mind, MS Dhoni is not only the better captain than Virat Kohli, but arguably the best Indian captain ever.
