WATCH: Ashton Agar produces superhuman save at boundary against England

Australian all-rounder Ashton Agar made the headlines despite not picking up a single wicket in his 10-over spell against England in the ongoing first ODI at the Adelaide Stadium. He produced an extraordinary save at the boundary line to save five runs for his side.

On the last ball of the 45th over, Dawid Malan slapped Pat Cummins’ delivery towards deep mid-wicket. It looked like an obvious six but Agar had other plans. He timed his jump to perfection to initially take hold of the ball with his left hand. But as he knew he would land across the boundary line, Agar showed his presence of mind and threw the ball into the playing area.

As a result, Australia were benefitted of five runs and Agar’s efforts attracted applause from the crowd. The clip of the moment is doing the rounds on the internet. Apart from this, he also affected a direct hit to run out Liam Dawson and took two catches on the field.

Can Jos Buttler do a MS Dhoni?

Michael Vaughan
MS Dhoni and Jos Buttler

Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan believes current limited-overs skipper Jos Buttler can lead the side for a long time and can probably build his own legacy just like former Indian skipper MS Dhoni. He also stated that one can see that in the wicketkeeper’s eyes.

“Now Jos Buttler has landed the World Cup at the first time of asking and at the age of 32 he has the chance to build his own legacy. MS Dhoni went on for years as India captain. Buttler can do the same, especially now he is concentrating on one format. There is steel there too. You can see it in Buttler’s eyes,” Vaughan wrote in The Daily Telegraph.

Buttler successfully led England to the T20 World Cup title in his first attempt as captain. With the 2023 ODI World Cup not far away, he will have a golden chance to defend the title and seal a legacy for himself in English cricket. The core members of the team will be more or less the same.
