The 2020-21 season of the Big Bash League (BBL) is currently underway where Adelaide Strikers (ADS) and Melbourne Renegades (MLR) locked horns on Tuesday. Kane Richardson and Co beat their opposition in a thrilling game by two runs at the Docklands Stadium, Melbourne.
Meanwhile, youngster Jake Fraser-McGurk plucked an unbelievable catch near the deep mid-wicket boundary line to send back ADS opener Jake Weatherald for 18. The incident took place on the second ball of the seventh over when the southpaw smashed an aerial shot off Zahir Khan’s delivery. Everyone, including the commentators, thought it’s going for a flat six, before Fraser-McGurk positioned himself and timed a full-stretched jump as perfectly as a gymnast, and grabbed an absolute one-handed stunner.

Earlier, the Melbourne-based franchise had won the toss and opted to bat first against the Strikers. MLR’s opening pair of Sam Harper (33) and Mackenzie Harvey (56) provided their side with a great start with a partnership of 65 runs. They managed to post a respectable total of 153/9 on the board at the end of their 20 overs.
In reply, the Peter Siddle-led side kept taking the wickets at a regular interval which never let the opposition make a comeback into the game. However, it was down to nine runs needed off the last six balls when James Pattinson made the most of his experience and restricted the opponents.
Zahir Khan, who also won the ‘Player of the Match’ award, registered the best bowling figures of 4-0-24-3. All-rounder Will Sutherland also performed well for his utility spell of 2/13.
