Shocked! Yuzvendra Chahal reveals how he felt after he was dropped from T20 World Cup
Yuzvendra Chahal and Rohit Sharma
Team India leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and opening batter Rohit Sharma share a brotherhood bond not just on the field but off the cricket set-up as well. Recently, the former shed light on his ‘family-like’ relation with the national team’s newly-appointed skipper.
The ‘Men in Blue’ are set to witness the beginning of a new era under the right-hander in the shortest format of the game. In a recent interaction with The Times of India, Chahal said:
“I have always had a special bond with Rohit. We are like family. Be it him or Ritika Bhabhi, they have always treated me like a younger brother. We always went out together for dinner. Whenever we are on the field, I always share my views with him, like the time we got Kuldeep (Yadav) to bowl from a certain end to Babar Azam in the 2019 World Cup and got him out.”
The 31-year-old further went on to talk about how the duo’s off-field relationship helps in building trust on the ground as well.
“Our relationship is beyond our cricket. That helps on the field too when you trust someone so much. It’s always good to know that if I share something with him, there will be a positive response and vibe,” he added.
“I felt really bad” – Chahal on being dropped from India’s T20 World Cup squad
Yuzvendra Chahal, who was shockingly dropped from the 15-member national squad for the recently-concluded 2021 T20 World Cup, reacted to his omission. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had selected Rahul Chahar over the Jind-born despite the latter performing exceptionally well for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2021.
“I was not dropped in four years and then I got dropped for such a marquee event. I felt really bad. I was down for two-three days. But then I knew the second leg of the IPL was still around the corner,” Yuzi Chahal signed off.
