“What is Shubman Gill’s favourite batting position?” – Indian batsman reveals
Shubman Gill
Indian batsman Shubman Gill is one of the brightest young prospects in the world of cricket. The 21-year-old has already taken the world by storm and come up with plenty of exciting knocks for his sides. With such a long career ahead of him and having already made a place in the Indian Test side his own, Gill is only set to grow from strength to strength and become one of the best in the business.
Gill made his debut in 2019 for the Indian side in the ODI format and although he hasn’t been picked a lot in the white-ball format and having lost his place now, the Test format is where Gill truly shines. The Punjab batsman had a baptism by fire Down Under as he was included in the playing XI soon after the infamous Adelaide debacle. He then came up with several crucial knocks in the series including a stunning 91 at the Gabba which sealed India’s series win with a positive knock that raised India’s hopes of an unlikely victory, which they did eventually seal.
What is Shubman Gill’s batting position?
Shubman Gill has played in various positions in the batting order throughout his career. Initially during his Indian Premier League (IPL) days for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), he used to bat in the lower middle order. Further, in the Under-19 World Cup for India, he was a No. 3 batsman. Soon, he transitioned into a specialist opener and he has played there for KKR and India recently.
Gill was asked recently on Google as to what his batting position is to which he said, “I’m a top order batsman and I like opening the innings or to bat at No. 3 or 4.“
Shubman Gill’s focus next will on the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) for India against New Zealand where he is expected to open the innings along with the season Rohit Sharma.
