It was another heartbreak for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as they suffered a four-wicket loss against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). A defeat in the Eliminator meant that the Bangalore outfit is out of the race of winning the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Fans had high hopes from the franchise this season as it was the last time that the skipper Virat Kohli was donning the skipper hat in the Indian league. The RCB fans wanted to bid adieu to captain Kohli with a trophy. Thus, it is no surprise that a loss against KKR angered the cricket fans to no extent.

Many took to social media to express their disappointment. Some fans also went as far as abusing the players for their poor performance in the game. Australia’s veteran all-rounder Dan Christian became the primary target of the trolls and haters for his horrendous performance against the Knight Riders.

Christian was named as the villain for his below-par performance with the ball. In the 12th over, Virat handed the ball to Christian as KKR was reeling at 79. The 38-year-old got hammered for as many as 22 runs against Sunil Narine. The expensive over by the Australian star completely shifted the momentum towards KKR.

In addition, Christian had failed to show any character with the willow too. The Men in Red and Gold were in desperate need of a mature knock from the all-rounder. However, he walked back to the pavilion after scoring just nine runs off eight deliveries. As Dan was being mercilessly trolled on social media, a fan came up with an interesting fact.

It is learned that during the IPL 2021 auction, RCB were involved in a bidding war for Christian with the Knight Riders. In the end, it was the Challengers who were successful in acquiring the services of the all-rounder by shelling a whopping INR 4.80 crore in the auction.
