IPL 2021: Who will win today’s match? – CSK vs DC, Match 2
The second match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) sees the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) taking on last year’s runners-up Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Men in Yellow had a below-par season last year as they failed to make it to the playoffs for the first time ever in their history. DC on the other hand were among two of the most consistent teams along with champions Mumbai Indians (MI).
However, last year’s performances and the form book get thrown out of the window when a new season begins. With both sides having made some fresh acquisitions, the focus will solely be on getting off to a good start to the season. A win in the first game might as well set the tone for the entire season and that is exactly what both sides would want.
Who will win today’s IPL match: CSK vs DC
It is extremely difficult to pick a winner when both sides haven’t yet named their playing XI or haven’t played a game at all. But, if one has to predict, Chennai Super Kings might be the team they fancy due to the side’s reputation. DC are no pushovers and were finalists last year, but without their captain Shreyas Iyer, the COVID-affected Axar Patel and the Proteas pace duo of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje, the side looks a wee bit weakened.
CSK on the other hand would miss Lungi Ngidi as well, but that would not impact them as much as the absence of the South African duo in DC. CSK got off to a good start last year as well by defeating MI, so there is a very good chance they could come up trumps here as well.
CSK will focus on keeping the DC openers quiet before running through the middle order. The lower order does not look very strong and in the absence of Axar, DC’s balance takes a hit. If the CSK bowlers expose the lower order, they could be in for a facile win. CSK would also have to be more positive with regard to their batting, especially if they are put in to bat first.
Prediction: CSK to win
