On 1st November, South African opener Quinton de Kock scored his 4th ton in the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup. He reached his 21st ODI century in 104 balls after he hit Jimmy Neesham for a six over long leg. He had earlier scored 3 centuries against Sri Lanka, Australia and Bangladesh. This is also his 4th ODI century of the year.
The elegant opener has hit eight boundaries and three maximums. He has capitalized on his great form in the World Cup and scored yet another century. Batting against the brilliant bowling attack of New Zealand, de Kock never looked uncomfortable.
He almost ran out 2 balls before he scored his century. Jimmy Neesham was bowling to Rassie van Dussen and bowled a low full toss, which van Dussen hit back hard. The ball wasn’t caught due to the speed and de Kock ran out of his crease. Boult who was fielding inside the circle picked up the ball and threw it towards the non-striker’s end. Unfortunately he missed, making sure de Kock could score his ton.
Coming in to open, Quinton de Kock built a partnership of 38 with Temba Bavuma till he was dismissed by Trent Boult. Along with Rassie van Dussen, the two established their 2nd 200 run partnership. Quinton de Kock’s brilliant innings came to an end after he was dismissed by Tim Southee. Southee bowled the ball into the pitch with no pace. De Kock tried hitting it over point, but as there was no pace it was an easy catch for Glenn Phillips.

Quinton de Kock broke many records with his 4th ton of the tournament. He became the first South African to score 500 runs in a World Cup and has also scored the most runs in a World Cup after 7 matches. Along with those, he is the only wicket-keeper with the most sixes in a World Cup,has the most runs in a World Cup as a wicketkeeper and has scored the most runs in a World Cup by a wicketkeeper.
Confirming that he will retire from ODIs after the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup, de Kock has set the entire tournament on fire with his great performance. Fans on social media claim he is too good to retire from ODIs and should play after this World Cup. Other Netizens started cracking jokes as Quinton de Kock is close to breaking Rohit Sharma’s record of most centuries in a World Cup.
