Justin Jefferson’s mammoth $140 million deal shocked many as the wide receiver waited several months to land a deserving contract. However, it was particularly hard on those wide receivers, who are also deserving yet awaiting to land a mega extension.
Jefferson wasn’t the only wide receiver awaiting an extension by holding out the team’s OTAs, as star wide receivers such as Tee Higgins, Brandon Aiyuk, and CeeDee Lamb are also holding out on the offseason activities in order to earn a satisfactory contract from their franchises. Still, there is no solid update from the franchises, especially in the case of Dallas Cowboys’ star CeeDee Lamb.
While talking on the subject, quarterback Dak Prescott revealed being by the side of his teammate. He immediately called Lamb, after the news of Jefferson’s record-breaking extension came, as ESPN’s Todd Archer reported.
CeeDee's handling business… Nobody's more in his corner than I am, understanding that that's his chess move, and he's got to do that. So I know him, I know he's been working. As I said, I've thrown with him. He's just fine.Prescott said.
While the Cowboys’ star wideout’s contract situation remained unresolved which even compelled him to miss the team’s mandatory minicamp and become subject to a fine of $100,000, the franchise has resumed the contract negotiation with its big players. It was reported that CeeDee Lamb was waiting for Jefferson to secure the deal before he signed any big contract with Dallas.
Mike McCarthy expects CeeDee Lamb to uphold his elite standards next season
Even though Lamb is absent from the Cowboys’ mandatory minicamp, head coach Mike McCarthy did not seem worried, instead, he laid down what he expects from the star receiver in the upcoming season. The Cowboys play caller appreciated Lamb for the high standards he has set up for himself and how his plan for him is to maintain that standard.

I think just playing to the standard that he's created and we all have a responsibility too to make sure those opportunities are in place but also, boy, what opportunities it creates for others because of the standard that he's established.McCarthy said.
Lamb is coming off a season where he proved why he deserves to be the No. 1 wide receiver. He finished the season with 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns as he significantly contributed to the Cowboys making it to the playoffs as the second-seeded AFC team.
