The Dallas Cowboys had a miserable time last season after Dak Prescott‘s injury, coupled with that of others, stopped them from showing what they could have done.

There were some concerns about how far they could go after the lackluster 2025 offseason Jerry Jones had. This time, he has seemingly made amends with a decent haul of players who could help carry the team forward.

His most important move was trading away star pass rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers. He felt the team was better off not paying the $47 million he eventually earned from his new team.

Moreover, the billionaire felt his team needed bodies inside to stop teams like the Philadelphia Eagles running down their throats. It seems quarterback Prescott took the instructions seriously when he decided to become a linebacker for an instant.

Coming out in the second half, the Cowboys were 1 point behind the Eagles and seemed confident to try to win the game. The defense did its part, stopping the home team to a field goal.

On the ensuing drive, Dak Prescott helped his team drive deep into Eagles territory. After benefitting from a penalty, the QB handed the ball to running back Miles Sanders, who tried to run up the middle, only to lose the ball.

Star second-year cornerback Quinyon Mitchell scooped up the loose ball and started running towards the left in an effort to evade Prescott lunging towards him.

But, surprisingly, the highest-paid player in the league lunged at the defensive back’s feet and did not let go, bringing him to a stop. This tackle saved a potential touchdown as Mitchell had nothing but clean grass ahead of him.

Dak Prescott could not continue stellar 1st half efforts into the 2nd session

The tackle stopped the Philadelphia Eagles from scoring, which gave the Dallas Cowboys a breather. Even though Dak Prescott had not connected with any of his receivers on a touchdown, he had done more than enough to put his team in scoring positions.

His 188 yards passing gave Cowboys fans hope that he could continue his aerial attack in the 2nd half. But that fumble, combined with punts on the next 2 drives, stifled their momentum.

The 32-year-old tried to do everything, but the Eagles’ defense, despite playing without star tackle Jalen Carter after his game-opening moment of madness, was good enough to slow the away team.

In their final offensive drive, Prescott tried to go for glory, and leading receiver CeeDee Lamb had a step on Quinyon Mitchell. It seems he left his usual glue-like hands at home as he dropped the ball on what could have set up a crucial 1st down.

Dak Prescott and Cowboys can make amends in next game

Prescott and his Dallas Cowboys played well, except for a few moments they wish they could undo. Heading home with a loss hanging around their necks should motivate them to play better next time around.

Up next, America’s Team will welcome the New York Giants and their heavily retooled quarterback room. The hope is that the players bearing the star on their helmets will be able to win against the team from the Big Apple.

Prescott and his offense have to clean up their game as they will go up against a solid defense. If they can fix their drops and miscommunications, they should be fine.

But if the defense does not hold up its end of the bargain, it will be a big problem for the Cowboys. The hope is that it does not end up becoming a shootout, as the Giants can do some damage.
