The past season was all kinds of bad for the Dallas Cowboys. ‘America’s Team’ suffered pretty heavily with the initial losses preceded by contract chaos and followed by the loss of their highly paid quarterback Dak Prescott to a season-ending injury.

In a Week 9 game against the Atlanta Falcons, the quarterback sustained a partial avulsion of his right hamstring. The quarterback decided not to prolong the injury and underwent surgery the following week and bid adieu to the already lost season.

After a long recovery process, Dak Prescott has officially been cleared to return to full activity. Appearing at his youth football camp in Southlake, Texas, Prescott put all suspicions to rest about his return to the field. The 31-year-old announced that he’s set to join the Dallas Cowboys training camp in Oxnard, California, on July 20.

I’m healthy as I’ll be. I’ll be full go for camp. I’m healthy. Yeah, I think soon here I’ll probably get the official sign off from doc, but I’m healthy.

Dak Prescott stated at the event on Tuesday

In the offseason program, Prescott had participated in all on-field drills. While some out-of-pocket movements were limited, mainly as a precaution, there was no visible lingering effect from the injury.

Besides his return to prime physical health, he has also been quietly putting in work with his team off the field. The veteran QB hosted a private retreat with his key offensive weapons at Lake Oconee in Georgia, something that is becoming an annual tradition at this point.

The multi-day session featured a mix of football drills and resilience training, facilitated by O2X, a performance group made up of former military personnel focused on mental strength and stress management.

The retreat also served a dual purpose, bonding with new wide receiver George Pickens and reconnecting with longtime target CeeDee Lamb. Pickens, recently acquired in a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers, impressed Prescott with his physical ability and also his mental approach to the game.

Last season, the Cowboys’ WR room was heavily impacted by CeeDee Lamb’s contract drama. Speaking to ESPN, Prescott admitted that there’s a shift in the energy while showering Pickens and Lamb with high praise.

Dak Prescott claimed that the newly acquired Pickens has shown a great deal of knowledge and involvement. He added that this kind of approach towards football has removed all preconceptions about Pickens that he had heard. In the past season, Pickens had been criticized for both his on-field and off-field activities. He was famously late for practice and recorded a 0-yard game against the Chiefs.

Prescott added that the wideout is happy for the shift in his career. He also commented on the change in Lamb’s attitude. The quarterback claimed that the wideout had a completely changed outlook, one that was brimming with energy and a zeal to grow and lead.

It’s a business. That last year, nothing was personal from anybody, but he wanted to be involved. [Now] you can see what it’s doing for him, his energy, his leadership, his growth.

The quarterback’s visible confidence has the football world peering at them closely. The Dallas Cowboys haven’t made the conference championship in nearly three decades, despite the same expectations and fanfare that follow them year after year.

Despite the continued disappointment, the franchise has managed to dominate headlines, merchandise sales, and prime-time slots. With Dak Prescott being the highest-paid player in the NFL, the scrutiny is even sharper, especially with the increasing dissatisfaction towards Jerry Jones.
