The 2024 NASCAR Cup season saw Joey Logano coming out victorious as the champion, with his impressive ride on the finale. But for a considerable time, the year will also be infamous for the alleged race manipulation at Martinsville, that forced NASCAR to give serious penalty and to threaten drivers with race ban for similar action in the future.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Christopher Bell’s angry comment after he was DQed at the last race R-8 was the root to the manipulation drama and on the day, he made some bold comments. Now Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. via his podcast has addressed the outburst and pointed out that it was mostly bell showing frustrating about his overall performance that Sunday.

Saying, ‘It’s one of the hardest things I’ve had to go through as a race car driver.’ Again, I look back to, I will tell him he should probably go watch Martinsville from several years ago when the car he was driving was sort of doing the same thing for Denny at the end of the race. This is nothing new.

He admitted that Bell has every right to show his emotions and says what comes out of his mind. Junior then pointed out that, the claims isn’t that accurate though as almost everyone in the NASCAR garage was involved in such compromises on the track one time or another.

I get it he’s frustrated and he has every right to say whatever he wants to say but I don’t think, I don’t think there’s anyone [that] is entirely innocent of some ‘manipulation.’

Christopher Bell is set to become the face of Joe Gibbs Racing

Despite being one of the most consistent drivers on the grid from the start of his career with JGR, Bell was often overlooked because of the impressive performance of his veteran teammates. But now with Martin Truex Jr.’s retirement, the No:20 TRD driver is set to become the face of the team, with Denny Hamlin close to retiring.

Ex-NASCAR driver Kyle Petty has the similar feeling about Bell future and sees him one day replacing the No:11 team driver Hamlin. He reckons JGR is going through a re-establishing phase, with Hamlin being the last veteran to exit, just like what Hendrick Motorsports did in the late 2010’s.

I think that was the plan. Just like when we saw the Hendrick organization, a number of years skewed to a number of young drivers. Everybody was under 26 or 27. A Sports organization has to cut ties with what brought them there and start all over to reestablish themselves as that powerhouse

Kyle Petty said.

Christopher Bell is the future of Joe Gibbs Racing, and the mentorship he had from Truex Jr., Hamlin and Kyle Busch will make him a great leader for the next generation of JGR drivers to follow. The racing prowess he has shown in the Next-Gen era helps his case as well.
