The NASCAR Cup Series All Star race weekend at North Wilkesboro ended with one of the most dramatic moments of the 2024 season. 2023 Daytona 500 winner Ricky Stenhouse Jr. landed a punch on RCR veteran Kyle Busch, during a heated confrontation between the two. It was the first incident this season in the Cup where driver had a full-blown physical altercation.
The incident was the aftermath of the clash between the duo in the first two laps of the race. Kyle Busch made contact with the wall after getting squeezed to the outside wall by Stenhouse Jr. on lap one. In retaliation the RCR veteran wrecked the No:47 Chevy on the second lap, which resulted in him DNFing from the race.
The confrontation between the two wouldn’t have happened according to Stenhouse Jr. if he was able to get out of the track and go back home. But the tunnels at the track were sealed and he had to wait till the race to get over. So, this build up a lot of frustration in him as he was just sitting there sulking doing nothing.
NASCAR Hal of Famer Dale Earnhardt Jr. mentioning this instance had a hilarious response to the incident. He suggested that it would be wild if NASCAR sealed all the tunnels likes in NWB via X.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. gives his verdict on the All-Star race
The two times Xfinity Series champion also made an X post about the race and gave his verdict on the repave at the track. He pointed out that repave made it a fun race though there was less action upfront and admitted that the track deserves a point race with a bigger line-up.
Fun race to watch. Had its moments. Definitely wanted more of a battle up front. BUT! This NWB Speedway track is awesome with the repave. Need a full field of cars on it to stifle the leader with lap traffic. Maybe one day it’ll get that points race.Dale Jr. wrote on X.

Junior has played a major role in the track return to NASCAR and it’s good to see that he is now willing work to make it a point race. It most probably won’t happen if not for any miracles in 2025, as the track was already announced as the host for next-seasons All-Star race.
