WWE often runs untelevised matches after their shows go off the air. This could be to allow wrestlers to get in more practice for a particular match or spot. Furthermore, it is also done to add extra value for the audience to sell more tickets. The audience in the latest episode of SmackDown got to witness two such dark matches.
Damian Priest took on Kofi Kingston in one such dark match after SmackDown went off the air. The Archer of Infamy put his World Heavyweight Championship on the line against the New Day member. The champion retained his title after he beat the former WWE Champion with a South of Heaven Chokeslam.

The second dark match of the show featured Awesome Truth defending their World Tag Team Championship against Judgment Day in the form of Finn Balor and JD McDonagh. The Demon was unsuccessful in re-capturing his lost Tag Team Championship after The Miz and R-Truth came out on top.
Fan reception to both matches was overall very positive. The WWE Universe can expect a televised version of the tag team match very soon. The two Irishmen won a fatal-four-way tag team match on the latest episode of Raw. This victory made them the number one contender for the tag titles, and they will be taking on the champions very soon.
Damian Priest wants to be a workhorse champion like Seth Rollins
Damian Priest successfully cashed in his Money in the Bank contract against Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania XL. This awarded him his first world championship in WWE. However, the Judgment Day member had a long road ahead of him. Seth Rollins had elevated the World Heavyweight Championship to great heights, and the responsibility now fell on the shoulders of the former United States Championship.

On the Rob Brown Show, Damian Priest talked about what he wanted the future of his championship reign to look like. He revealed that he wanted to be the type of champion that the Architect was: a workhorse. .
Furthermore, Priest claimed that he wanted a piece of everybody on the roster. He said that most champions are the opposite. However, he was ready to take on anybody at any point. Despite not having weekly defenses, the 41-year-old’s recent title defense against Jey Uso and his storyline involving tension within Judgment Day has surely kept things interesting for his title reign.
