Once Tom Aspinall vacated the heavyweight title, the UFC brass and Dana White started making moves to keep the division moving. The promotion booked an undisputed title fight between Ciryl Gane and Josh Hokit at UFC 334 in November. This move left Alex Pereira without a fight.
‘Poatan’ wanted a rematch against Gane because of how their UFC Freedom 250 bout ended. The promotion booking Gane vs Hokit means that Pereira will have to fight someone else. The UFC CEO promised to announce Pereira’s next bout as long as it meets one condition.
White talked about in a conversation with Nina Marie Daniele. The UFC CEO made the demand of 25K comments to announce the fight this weekend at UFC 332 when ‘Nina Drama’ streams the numbered event on her Kick stream.
It certainly looks like the 57-year-old promoter will announce Poatan’s next fight this weekend. After all, the post already has more than 88K likes and over 28K comments by now. By the start or middle of UFC 332 main card, the UFC CEO will definitely announce the bout.
Meanwhile, Pereira has trained regularly after his TKO loss to Ciryl Gane at UFC Freedom 250. The Brazilian superstar wants to compete once again this year and is eyeing the next title shot after Gane vs Hokit.
Pereira has substantial history with both men, which can get the division moving. However, he badly needs a win to accomplish his wish to become a three-weight world champion. To that end, Poatan teased a big challenge while adding some words of motivation.
It’s coming. Good news, that’s right, a big challenge. Like I told you, if I hadn’t taken risks in all my fights I wouldn’t be who I am today.

Rumors in the MMA community suggest that Pereira will likely take on heavyweight knockout artist, Sergei Pavlovich. The Russian knockout artist is on a three-fight winning run and does not have an opponent at the moment.
With Tom Aspinall out of the title picture, Pavlovich, Pereira, and Alexander Volkov remains among the top contenders who can get the next title shot after UFC 334.
The heavyweight division has faced a lot of complaints from the MMA community for its lack of quality. The upcoming Gane vs Hokit and the potential Pereira vs Pavlovich bouts are quality bouts for Dana White and the UFC brass to solve their heavyweight division problem.
Dana White explains why he wants to promote Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua
The upcoming superfight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will happen in Cardiff, Wales. Initially, it was set to happen at MSG in New York with Dana White handling the negotiations. However, persistent protests from Joshua and Eddie Hearn helped in changing the venue.

Currently, Hearn and Joshua don’t want White promoting the upcoming superfight. They have done all that they can to push Turki Alalshikh and Netflix to honor their contract. Recently, White did not attend the first press conference between ‘AJ’ and Fury.
The UFC CEO said that he had his Contender Series obligations that prevented him from attending. Moreover, he told the reporters why he wanted to be a part of this superfight.
This isn’t hesitation. This is an ego thing—a total ego thing. Boxing has taken a hit in the United States. It’s not as big as it was 20 years ago. It has become a very British sport.

The first press event for Fury vs Joshua concluded without White in attendance. When Alalshikh brought up White’s name during the event, the entire crowd booed.
It remains to be seen what happens next in the ongoing drama between White, Hearn, Fury and Joshua.
