Over the years, numerous notable MMA fighters have sought matchups against prominent boxers in boxing matches. One of the most talked-about encounters was between UFC superstar Conor McGregor and undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather. Additionally, Oleksandr Usyk has identified UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira as a potential opponent.
A few weeks ago, Alex ‘Poatan’ Pereira expressed his interest in a potential matchup against former undisputed heavyweight boxing champion Oleksandr Usyk. Recently, this topic has resurfaced as the Ukrainian boxing champion shared his thoughts on the matter. In an exclusive interview with TNT Sports Boxing, Usyk seemed to tease the idea of fighting Pereira if the opportunity arises.
First is who wins next fight in 22 February [Dubois vs Parker], but next, maybe show fight with Alex Pereira, maybe, why not. Alex wanna [do it?]

Interestingly, right after UFC CEO Dana White confirmed his entry into the world of boxing, Pereira also began to express interest in it. Notably, the Brazilian UFC light heavyweight champion has experience in boxing; he made his professional boxing debut in his home country back in 2017. Currently brimming with confidence, ‘Poatan’ is eager not to miss out on a lucrative opportunity, such as facing Usyk.

Interestingly, Usyk remains unbeaten in his professional boxing career. In his most recent fight, the Ukrainian boxing champion decisively defeated Tyson Fury. Following this victory, Usyk announced that he plans to compete in just two more bouts. First, he will face the winner of the match between Joseph Parker and Daniel Dubois. After that, he mentioned that Alex Pereira would be a suitable opponent.
Oleksandr Usyk isn’t buying Tyson Fury’s retirement announcement
Like Oleksandr Usyk, Tyson Fury is another prominent figure in the heavyweight boxing world. However, after losing consecutive fights to the Ukrainian boxing champion, the British boxer decided to retire. This decision sparked reactions from several notable personalities in the boxing community.

In a recent exclusive interview with talkSPORT, Usyk expressed his thoughts on Fury’s announcement of retirement from professional boxing. The Ukrainian boxing champion does not believe that the British heavyweight boxer will actually retire. Moreover, Usyk also shared an interesting reason for his perspective on the situation.
I don’t think about it but I think it is not true. Once Tyson has relaxed, and rested, maybe Tyson will be back. Boxing if you do this for a long time: 10, 15, 20, 25 years then boxing is like a drug.

Interestingly, like Oleksandr Usyk, Matchroom Promotions CEO Eddie Hearn also shared a similar sentiment and dismissed Fury’s retirement announcement. One key reason for this skepticism is the British heavyweight boxer’s history of returning from retirement. This recent announcement marks the fifth time that Fury has declared his retirement from his professional boxing career.
