Tom Aspinall has held the UFC interim heavyweight championship for a record number of days without fighting for the undisputed title. He has done absolutely everything in his power to secure a fight with Jon Jones, but has remained unsuccessful so far. Due to the constant delays and Jones’ negligence, Aspinall’s frustration has continued to grow over recent months.

Jones recently hinted at possibly retiring from the UFC without ever stepping inside the octagon against the rising UK star. However, Dana White’s latest comments have offered renewed hope and slightly changed the tone around this frustrating situation. Aspinall has also appreciated White for his comments, and recently shared a YouTube video and shared his opinion.

I think a lot of people have come out and they see what I have said and they think it’s some kind of meaningless stuff. I don’t do that….I don’t announce UFC fights but there is something coming… Dana White says I’m his man, we love that. I’m gonna go and prove that pretty soon…Just stick around and you’ll see.

Previously, Jones stated the UFC had plans, but he and Aspinall weren’t allowed to announce anything just yet. Following that, he went on a rant online, clashing with Aspinall’s passionate fans across various social media platforms. Nevertheless, veteran UFC commentator Jon Anik recently spoke about Jones and Aspinall possibly fighting this December in Las Vegas.

Aspinall is eager to capture the undisputed title and won’t waste prime years chasing a fight that may never happen. He refuses to end up like Michael Chandler, who waited endlessly for a fight with Conor McGregor that never materialized. Now getting a boost from the UFC is a positive sign for him. The coming months will be interesting.

Dana White comments on Jon Jones’ crazy claims

Many fans and experts are frustrated with Jon Jones constantly delaying the UFC heavyweight title unification bout without clear explanation. As a result, an online petition demanding action gained traction and has now gone viral with over 185,000 signatures submitted. However, that hasn’t impacted Jones much, as he’s faced harsh criticism several times throughout his long and controversial career.

During recent online interactions with fans, Jones accused Aspinall of clinging to him and avoiding other heavyweight contenders. Jones also stated that at his current age, he doesn’t care if the UFC stripped him of his heavyweight title. When Dana White was asked about this at the UFC 316 post-fight presser, his reaction turned out to be surprisingly unexpected.

He said he’s ready to vacate the belt? I’ve been busy, but I have been keeping up with the gossip. Tuesday, we’ll get this figured out. Listen, if the guy wants to retire and doesn’t want to fight, there’s nothing you can do…. It’s none of my business. I’ll do what I can to make the fight. If he’s talking that crazy shit, I didn’t realize that… Jon has been Jon since he walked through the door here.

Jones also spoke about potentially fighting former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou in a highly anticipated superfight clash. According to Jones, facing the Cameroonian-French powerhouse would be tougher and significantly more meaningful for building his fighting legacy.

Following his UFC exit, Ngannou has participated in various boxing bouts and is the current PFL champ. He has responded positively to the idea, showing interest in the potential matchup with Jones shortly. However, White has already shut down any possibility of that fight ever happening under the UFC banner.
