Stipe Miocic will likely retire from the UFC after his upcoming fight against Jon Jones. At least that is what UFC CEO, Dana White expects him to do. Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic are expected to fight for the undisputed heavyweight title this November at UFC 309. The 41-year-old former champion might call it a day at the end of it all.
UFC CEO, Dana White recently sat down for an interview with Kevin Iole. During their discussion on Iole’s YouTube channel, Dana White addressed the highly anticipated heavyweight title clash of the year. In the very same conversation, the UFC head honcho revealed that the two-time UFC heavyweight champion will have his final title run this year.

The highly anticipated fight between Jones and Miocic was set to take place at UFC 295. However, an unexpected pectoral injury during training put out Jon Jones for over a year. Miocic himself has not competed ever since losing his title to Francis Ngannou in 2021. Despite the hiatus, both fighters are keen on proving their prowess in the octagon.
But then, what happens after this fight? Interim heavyweight champion, Tom Aspinall has been waiting around for ages. He is expected to face the winner of this bout. Dana White also announced the Brit to be the backup fighter for Jones vs. Miocic, in case the fight fell through for whatever reason.

Jon Jones had previously dismissed a fight with the Brit. However, after his interim heavyweight title defense at UFC 304, Tom Aspinall has become an undeniable contender for the next heavyweight title shot. Dana White addressed this during his recent interview with Kevin Iole.
There had been rumors going around that Jon Jones might retire after defending his title against Stipe Miocic. The UFC CEO said that he was not sure what Jon Jones wished to do next. However, a showdown with Tom Aspinall is the most obvious step after this fight.
I don’t know what Jon Jones will do after this fight, but I would be shocked if he didn’t want to test himself against Aspinall.

White highlighted that Jon Jones’s achievements in the UFC is undeniable. If he beats Stipe and then fights and puts out Tom Aspinall, it would solidify his legacy as the most formidable fighter in the promotion. Since nothing is official so far, it will be interesting to observe what happens in the heavyweight division next.
