Dana White has long tolerated Jon Jones‘ legal issues, but this time the media was in error. Given his enormous fan following, Jon Jones may be one of the UFC’s greatest assets. However, the promotion has done a lot of work to deal with his outside-the-octagon antics.

Dana White recently sat down with political commentator Bill Maher where he talked about the influence of the media on his business.  While giving an example, White talked about Jon Jones‘s recent run-in with the law. Dana White shared his annoyance with NBC News for spreading misinformation about Jones’ arrest.

He literally is always in trouble, always has something going on and got into trouble. NBC News put out a story that he was arrested and he was never arrested. It's just like they don't even try anymore.

Jones is currently recovering from his pectoral injury which he picked up last year in October. Moreover, the fighter found himself in legal trouble with the drug tester. While various reports surfaced alleging Jones of threatening to kill the tester, the fighter has come to reveal that it’s false news. Jones has claimed that he was not arrested but rumors about him were spread without fact-checking.

Basketball legend shares his views on Dana White’s comparison of Jon Jones with legendary Mike Tyson

While the whole fight community talked about their views on the topic, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal had something interesting to share. O’Neal mentioned his experience with both Jones and Tyson.

There have been only three instances where I felt a certain way when someone touched me. It's like you turn around, and you see their face, and something just clicks off. I remember walking to the Super Bowl, and someone hit me hard from behind. I turned around ready to react, and it was Jon. Same with Tyson. I was in a club in LA, got hit from above, turned around ready to retaliate, and there was Tyson.

O’Neal is a big fan of MMA as well as boxing. He has seen both sports for a long time, and he definitely knows something about intimidation. While Tyson was a juggernaut in his prime. According to many fans, when it comes to all-out fighting with kicks and ground game, an MMA legend like Jones will have the upper hand.
