Khabib Nurmagomedov, one of the most popular MMA superstars in the world, found himself in the middle of an inflight drama. A few days ago, the former UFC lightweight champion was removed from a flight traveling to Los Angeles. The incident caught the attention of many in the MMA community including UFC CEO Dana White, who was left baffled.
Nurmagomedov was sitting in the emergency exit row and was asked to change his seat despite his eagerness to help during an emergency. The Hall of Famer was then left with no choice and had to leave the plane owned by Frontier Airlines. Dana White recently went on a rant on the Airlines and stressed that Nurmagomedov didn’t need to travel so cheaply.
White mentioned that Khabib Nurmagomedov was the most qualified person in that airplane to take responsibility during any emergency. This sentiment was also shared by many other experts in the MMA community who criticized the airlines for their behavior. As White stated Nurmagomedov has millions of dollars, but being humble has cost the former pound-for-pound king.
Nurmagomedov even issued an official statement after the incident and accused the airlines of discrimination. On the other hand, Frontier Airlines refuted these claims and blamed the Dagestani fighter for not co-operating. It seems like the retired fighter might need to make sure to get better tickets the next time he flies.
Did Khabib Nurmagomedov change his personality after earning millions of dollars?
Khabib Nurmagomedov earned millions through UFC fight purses, with his bouts against Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier. He secured lucrative sponsorships with brands like Reebok and expanded into business ventures, including Eagle FC and real estate. Post-retirement, ‘The Eagle’ profits from seminars, social media, and mentoring fighters, solidifying his legacy and financial success globally.
Despite all this, the retired champion has always maintained a humble personality and doesn’t necessarily flex his riches. The Dagestani fighter believes in giving back to the community and helping his teammates to achieve success. In a YouTube video, his coach Javier Mendez said something similar.
Khabib Nurmagomedov is currently focused on his life as a full-time coach. Though the Dagestani doesn’t like coaching but feels the responsibility to help others. This weekend at UFC 311, his team will face the biggest challenge on a single night.
