Conor McGregor recently withdrew from his highly anticipated comeback against Michael Chandler. They were supposed to headline the main event of UFC 303 set for later this month. However, ‘The Notorious’ pulled out citing injury, although not a lot of people are ready to believe it. UFC CEO, Dana White recently sat down to clear all rumors related to his starfighter and his potential comeback.

Dana White recently sat down for a conversation with Jim Rome. During their discussion, Rome asked the UFC CEO if Conor McGregor was actually hurt or just intended to renegotiate his contract.

Conor McGregor never leads up to a fight and tries to renegotiate a contract or get more money...Conor McGregor is hurt right now. It’s absolutely real. He’s never done anything like that.

But what happens to Michael Chandler? ‘Iron’ has not fought since his last showdown against Dustin Porieir back in 2022. Fighting McGregor was his big night that he has waited for over a year now. Even the fans have been waiting for their showdown ever since they clashed on ESPN’s The Ultimate Fighter.

However, that day seems to keep getting away. Dana White clarified that they were ready to do whatever Chandler wanted. He even called him one of the greatest athletes he has ever worked with.

Dana White on Conor McGregor come back

Conor McGregor made a lot of money over the years from his businesses and his boxing debut against Floyd Mayweather. Over the past seven years, ‘The Notorious’ has fought four fights winning exactly one of them. This has raised some concerns over the Irishman’s need to come back to fighting and if he really even wanted to.

White talked about this during his interview on “The Jim Rome Show” on X. According to him, it was quite uncertain with fighters of that caliber with a lot of money.

Conor’s going to be 36 in July. He’s got plenty of money… – maybe he’ll fight again, maybe he won’t. You never know with some of the guys that get to that level. You never know when you’re going to see them again.

So the drama with the ‘McGregor comeback’ continues. The UFC superstar previously made a statement on Instagram. He wrote that he intends to be in full health before making his return to the octagon. It will be interesting to see if Michael Chandler stands by or takes on another fight after being inactive for almost two years.
