The eight-time Grand Prix winner Daniel Ricciardo, has recently spoken candidly about his ongoing stint in F1. The last few years have been tough for Ricciardo and keeping in view the struggles, he genuinely feels grateful to be driving in F1.

Daniel Ricciardo currently does not have a contract for the 2025 season but has been constantly linked with a move to Red Bull. Sergio Perez could potentially get dropped by the Milton-Keynes-based team at the end of the ongoing campaign.

It’s not like I have an ‘I don’t care’ approach, but my perspective is that all this now is a bonus because I really thought at the end of 2022 maybe I would never race Formula 1 again. So to have this second chance, if there is going to be some pressure then OK, let’s take it on.

The 35-year-old is in the twilight stage of his career at the pinnacle of motor racing. His stint with McLaren had an extremely bad impact on him and since then, he’s been trying desperately to get back to his top form. During the ongoing campaign, Ricciardo has so far proved second-best against RB teammate, Yuki Tsunoda.

Daniel Ricciardo fully determined to secure a 2025 ‘seat’

While Ricciardo has openly talked about his career in F1, he is not willing to hang up his boots just yet. He believes he still has what it takes to deliver in the sport and thus, is willing to give his all to secure a birth on the 2025 grid.

Ricciardo’s option for next year only lies within the Red Bull setup.

Maybe I’m at a point where it’s just like what will be will be. And I’m just going to put everything I can on the table from an effort and performance perspective. And if that is good enough to secure me a seat, great. If not, then OK. I did everything I could.

The 2024 F1 season has 10 races remaining on the calendar. Considering this, it is high time for Ricciardo to start churning out consistent results from Zandvoort onwards. The ongoing summer break should help the 35-year-old recharge his batteries and come out as fresh as possible for the second half of the season.
