After NASCAR decision to not race in the Mexico City in 2026, the Cup Series doesn’t have an international event in the schedule. It is reported that the sport is looking into having a non-USA race in 2027, with Canada being seen as the prime target by many. Spire Motorsports driver Daniel Suarez though has other ideas.
On his latest interview with Jeff Gluck, the Mexican-American was asked about the international venue he wants to see the Cup drivers race at. The veteran named São Paulo, Brazil. The country has one of the most passionate motorsports fanbases in the world and the veteran also has a special connection with the country as his wife Julia Piquet is from the South American nation.
I would love to see us race in Brazil. I’m a little biased because I have a strong connection with Brazil (the Piquet family’s home country), but to this day, I don’t think I’ve ever seen race fans as passionate as I have in São Paulo. It’s unbelievable. The racing culture there is so big.
Daniel Suarez told Jeff Gluck.
Talking about the unbelievable racing culture in the state, that hosts the iconic F1 Brazilian GP, Daniel Suarez pointed out that he was shocked when he last went to a NASCAR Brazil Series race and saw more than 50K fans in the grandstands. The veteran also highlighted that he still also wants the Cup Series to continue racing in Mexico as well.
I was there for a NASCAR Brazil race, and there were probably 50,000 or 60,000 people in the grandstands. It was unbelievable. I’d love to see the Cup Series there one day. Obviously, I want to come back to Mexico, but for somewhere we haven’t been, I’d say Brazil.
