The 2025 NASCAR Cup series race at Phoenix Raceway marked the Cup debut of Katherine Legge, the first female driver to race at the elite level since 2018. Her race didn’t pan out as planned as the Live Fast Motorsports car wasn’t good enough for her to hold her ground in the tough Next-Gen era traffic.

Katherine Legge’s day came to an end on lap 215, while she was racing for P28 as she lost control and spun out. Trackhouse Racing’s Daniel Suarez was an innocent bystander as he crashed into the No:78 Chevy, ending his run for a top 10 finish. A furious Suarez post-race called out NASCAR for allowing less experienced racers to run in challenging tracks, while asserting he has nothing against her.

There’s nothing wrong with her. What is wrong is NASCAR. They cannot allow somebody with no experience to run in the Cup Series. Plain and simple.

Daniel Suarez said, via Steven Taranto of CBS Sports.

He then asserted that if racers with less experience is allowed to race in tracks like the upcoming race event at Vegas, will only result on dangerous incidents. Suarez also highlighted how the wreck they were involved in as they were running over 100mph when he hit her.

You go to Las Vegas, to a fast track, it’s freaking dangerous. You cannot do that. And then here, honestly, this is not a so slow pace. Like, I hit her, and I was running 100 mph slowing down already.

Daniel Suarez added.

Katherine Legge blames overnight car adjustments for the incidents

The incident that ruined the race of Katherine Legge was mainly due to the car adjustment that made after the no so fortunate car adjustments. She admitted that if not for the changes, she would have made it into the finish line and added that she wishes they didn’t happen.

We made some changes to the car overnight, and they were awful. I was hanging on like the first stint, I was so loose and I was just hanging on to it. Then we kept making adjustments and we kept making the car way more stable for me… I wish we hadn’t made the changes.

Katherine Legge said.

The comments from Suarez and Legge proves it’s a mix of poor decision that ruined the race for latter. This situation also proves NASCAR has to come up with some changes, that will allow more practice time for Cup drivers before their debut.
