Daniil Medvedev used to consider Carlos Alcaraz the current best player, but he changed his opinion after his Six Kings Slam quarterfinals against Jannik Sinner in Riyadh. On Wednesday (October 16), Sinner locked horns with the Russian at The Venue and defeated him 6-0, 6-3 in 68 minutes.
Medvedev has met Alcaraz eight times but won just two matches. He even lost all the three matches he played against the Spaniard this year. This is why Medvedev used to consider Alcaraz the best player, but he did not anticipate a bagel from Sinner.
While Sinner knocked out Medvedev from the tournament, Alcaraz also booked the semifinal spot with his win over Holger Rune. The other two opponents, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal will start their campaigns directly from the semifinals.

Jannik Sinner has now won eight of his last nine matches against Daniil Medvedev. Prior to arriving in Riyadh, both played at the Shanghai Masters where they met in the quarterfinals with Sinner beating Medvedev before clinching the title with a win over his Six Kings Slam semifinal opponent, Novak Djokovic.
Although this meeting in the Six Kings Slam won’t be a part of their ATP head-to-head record, Sinner and Medvedev are 7-7. Sinner also became the first player to bagel the 2021 US Open winner since 2020. This season, the Italian has squared off against Medvedev five times on the ATP Tour, winning four matches, except for the Wimbledon quarterfinal.
Though the Six Kings Slam is not an ATP event, if Sinner wins the tournament, it will be his eighth title of the season following his two Grand Slam victories (Australian Open and US Open), three ATP Masters 1000, and two ATP 500 trophies. Before the Six Kings Slam, Sinner reached back-to-back finals in four events, and lost just the China Open summit clash, to Carlos Alcaraz.
