Russia’s Daniil Medvedev lifted his maiden Nitto ATP Finals title this past year. To do so, he downed the World No.3, Dominic Thiem 4-6, 7-6, 6-4 in the final round. Further, the 24-year-old became the first player in ATP Finals history to vanquish the world’s Top-3 in the same run. Medvedev achieved this feat when he defeated the World No.1 Novak Djokovic for the third, and the World No.2 Rafael Nadal for the first time in his career.

This astounding lieu of achievements makes Daniil’s earlier results of the year quite inconceivable. Even so, the Russian did manage to get a hold of his footing on the courts. Moreover, he became the first player from his country to win the year-end championships since Nikolay Davydenko in 2009.

In addition, Medvedev went undefeated amongst the World’s Top-8 to perform a complete 360 from the results he bore last year, wherein he lost all three of his bouts. With this impeccable string of wins in London, the Russian bagged $1,564,000 and a much-envied trophy. However, only recently has the World No.4 been reunited with the latter which he fought hard to finally lift on 22nd November.

As per the update by the ATP Tour on Twitter, Medvedev looked elated to have received the laurel. While this trophy is a replica of the original, its size varies from the same. This slight change is of no consequence for the young ace as he is highly motivated and is looking to build on the momentum he’s gained in the upcoming season.
