Daniil Medvedev returns as Stefanos Tsitsipas, Rublev among top names at ATP Hamburg 500

Hamburg European Cup, an ATP 500 tournament is set to begin next week following the revised ATP calendar due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The tournament features big names like Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Matteo Berrettini and Gael Monfils. This will be the second tournament on clay in order to prepare the players for the French Open commencing later this month.
Medvedev returns to Hamburg after 2016
Daniil Medvedev, US Open semifinalist will be making his return at Hamburg after 2016 where played as a qualifier. This marks his 1st tournament on clay after the French Open last year. Daniil Medvedev will be looking to continue his good run at the US Open by doing well in Hamburg.
Stefanos Tsitsipas, the ATP Nitto Finals winner is not having a good year. After having been knocked out of the US Open in the 3rd round he lost in the 2nd round at Italian Masters to Jannik Sinner starting off poorly in the clay season. He would look to make amends by doing well in Hamburg and prepare well for the French Open.
The field also includes Gael Monfils, Matteo Berrettini, Shapovalov, Diego Schwartzman, Felix-Auger Alaissime, Kevin Anderson and the defending champion Nikoloz Basilashvili who would be looking to win his 3rd straight tile at Hamburg this year. The tournament is to be held from 21st-27th September with the draw being on 19th September. Roger Federer holds the record for most number of titles at Hamburg(4).
