Daniil Medvedev is one of the most interesting characters on the Tour. His on-court antics and unintentionally humorous responses to various serious situations make him a prime entertainer.
One such situation occurred today as he was facing off against American Sebastian Korda. The officials at the Madrid Open did not have the roof closed on the Arantxa Sanchez Stadium midway through the match when it had started drizzling.

Medvedev seemed annoyed by this and complained about the conditions, asking the chair umpire to have the roof closed. Upon the umpire informing him that it was beyond his control and the decision to close the roof could only be made by the supervisors, the Russian got more vocal and voiced his frustration in his classic style.
"You are fine under an umbrella, we aren't," Said Medvedev"I don't make the decision, they do," Umpire responded"Who are they? The Illuminati or what?" Daniil Medvedev repliedInteraction between Daniil Medvedev and chair Umpire

Notably, the video just went viral, eliciting a plethora of hilarious reactions online. Well, it wasn’t Medevedev’s only moment that made everyone chuckle.
More iconic Daniil Medvedev moments!
Medvedev, known to endorse his unfiltered self on the court, has provided fans with some iconic moments throughout his career. From outbursts against opponents to calling umpires ‘small cats’, he has done it all.

During the 2022 Australian Open, the Russian No. 1 confused ‘small fish’ with ‘small fry’ when hurling an insult at the chair umpire, instantly becoming a meme.
Another similar interaction was had with an umpire who had given the point to his opponent, Bublik, saying Medvedev had hindered him by apologizing before the completion of the point. “This is gonna be on Tennis TV, bro!” the Russian can be heard shouting as he ridicules the call by the umpire.
