Jannik Sinner caused concern earlier by canceling his scheduled practice at Aorangi Park. However, it was later confirmed that he opted to train indoors with his team near the Wimbledon 2025 venue. According to Darren Cahill, Sinner wanted to get in a short hitting session lasting around 20 to 30 minutes.
Despite those plans, the three-time Grand Slam winner did not appear for the indoor training either. He has not been seen at the All England Club throughout the day. His absence has raised questions ahead of his quarter-final match. Cahill said on Jannik Sinner’s situation:
We did go out to the indoor courts and just fed balls [to him] for 20-30 minutes, just to feel the ball. He’s going to be okay, it was just nice to get on the court. it’s impossible for him to take a day off.
The 23-year-old is set to play American Ben Shelton on Wednesday. Their match is scheduled as the second of the day on Court One. Shelton’s powerful serve could be a real challenge if Sinner is not fully prepared.

Adding to the uncertainty, Sinner recently made unexpected changes to his support team. He dismissed his fitness coach Marco Panichi and physiotherapist Ulises Badio just before the tournament. These two had been hired after his previous staff were removed following a positive doping test last year.
Jannik Sinner cancels scheduled practice
World No.1 Jannik Sinner had a scan on his injured arm in London on Tuesday morning. However, his team will wait to make a decision until after he tests his elbow later in the day. During his fourth-round Wimbledon match, he fell awkwardly and needed medical treatment, but continued playing. Although he was struggling, he avoided defeat after his opponent, Grigor Dimitrov, suffered an injury and had to retire.

Dimitrov dominated the first two sets and looked set for an upset before his unfortunate injury at 2-2 in the third set. Despite being outplayed for most of the match, Sinner advanced with the score at 6-3, 7-5, 2-2 when Dimitrov retired. Sinner then had an MRI scan at 10 a.m. UK time. Italian media reported that the results will remain private until he tests his arm in a practice session.
Sinner was initially scheduled for a full practice at 2 p.m. at the All England Club. That session was cancelled, and he instead booked a court at Aorangi Park for a lighter session at 4 p.m. If he completes that training without issues, he is expected to play in his quarter-final match on Wednesday.
He will face American Ben Shelton, who beat Lorenzo Sonego in four sets to reach the last eight. Shelton has won only one of their six previous matches, with Sinner winning the last five, including a straight-sets victory in the Australian Open semi-finals. With Shelton’s powerful serve, Sinner’s fitness—especially his elbow—will be crucial.
Jannik Sinner gets huge positive before Wimbledon quarterfinal
Top seed Jannik Sinner is in a whole lot of trouble before his Wimbledon quarterfinal against Ben Shelton. The Italian injured his elbow in the match against Grigor Dimitrov, and luckily got a ticket into the quarterfinals as Grigor Dimitrov retired after being two sets up.

The good thing is that this quarterfinal birth has cancelled out all of the points that Sinner had to defend at SW19 this year. The Italian was a quarterfinalist last year, where he lost to Daniil Medvedev in five sets.
This year, the physical problems have once again hampered the World No.1 as he is in the race to be fit against Ben Shelton. The good thing is that he has nothing to lose in terms of ranking points. Hence, Sinner can go into this Wimbledon quarterfinal with a nothing to lose mentality. Having said that, he has plenty of points to defend in the second part of the season.
