Robert Saleh lost his job. The Jets failed to beat the Buffalo Bills in a crucial AFC East fixture for the top spot in the division. But just a few hours later, Aaron Rodgers received a phone call that his old mate Davante Adams was on the plane to New York.
A move that was two and a half years in the making finally came to fruition on Tuesday when the Jets announced trading a conditional third-round pick for the star receiver. Adams confirmed the move when video bombed Rodgers’ routine appearance on the Pat McAfee Show.
On Wednesday, Adams appeared in his first introduction and training session with his new Jets teammates. Later, he spoke with the media and took a backhand jab at his former employers.

Davante Adams’ brief and choppy stint with the Raiders came to an abrupt end
Adams faced a minor fallout with Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce, who called out the 6x All-Pro wideout for not having his heart in the game. The Raiders subsequently sidelined him by stating that he had a hamstring problem while they kept negotiating with the Jets.
Davante Adams played two seasons in Vegas, receiving from three different quarterbacks. He initially agreed on a move to the Raiders to play with old college teammate Derek Carr. However, owner Mark Davis traded Carr to the New Orleans Saints after just one year in which Adams had more than 1500 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Jimmy Garappolo replaced Carr, but the Raiders benched him after only six games, handing the job to fourth-round rookie Aidan O’Connell. Adams still had 1,100 receiving yards and 8 touchdowns.
The situation took a toll for the worse this season, and Adams forced his way out even though he still had three years left on his five-year, $141.25 million deal.
Now, he will receive from the quarterback with whom he played 108 games. Rodgers and Adams combined for 622 catches for 7,590 yards and 69 touchdowns for the Green Bay Packers.
According to sources, Adams is more than likely to start when the Jets play the Steelers in Week 7 this Sunday in the presence of former USA President Donald Trump.
