Davante Adams ends trade speculation by reuniting with Aaron Rodgers at Jets

Davante Adams’ tenure with the Las Vegas Raiders finally comes to an end as he has been officially acquired by the New York Jets, in a trade deal and reunited with his former teammate, Aaron Rodgers.
Since this offseason, when the Raiders weren’t even considering trading the veteran wide receiver, the Jets’ quarterback Rodgers has been convincing him to join him in New York. And the minute Adams became available, they wasted no time in approaching the Raiders.
NFL Network Ian Rapoport reported this morning that the Raiders are trading the All-Pro wideout to New York in exchange for a conditional third-round pick.
The trade deal took place less than a day after the Jets suffered a poor 23-20 home loss at the hands of the Buffalo Bills, which sunk them to a 2-4 season standing. Given, that this marked their third consecutive loss and the first without head coach Robert Saleh.
Interestingly, the Jets weren’t the only team who approached the Raiders with a trade offer for the six-time Pro Bowler. The Pittsburgh Steelers, New Orleans Saints, and the Kansas City Chiefs were also in the race but the team wanted a good draft pick in exchange for the veteran star and they finally found this in New York.
Las Vegas acquired Adams through a trade deal in 2022 from the Green Bay Packers and signed a lucrative five-year deal worth $140 million, including a guaranteed sum of $65.7 million. He earned his third consecutive All-Pro honor in his debut season in the Raiders however due to the instability in the quarterback room, he failed to make an impact in 2023 and ended the season with 8-9.
As the saga continued this season by losing four out of the last six matches, the wideout got frustrated and requested a trade from the Raiders.
Fan Reaction to Davante Adams trade to the Jets
With a stable quarterback position in Las Vegas, Adams could have been a great asset for the team but it seems they can’t have both together. Regardless, this is big news for the Jets as they got a great quarterback-wide receiver duo. Rodgers and Adams’s chemistry on the field is undeniable and that’s what fans are celebrating for.
Upon hearing the news, fans have missed reactions as some celebrated the reunion of Rodgers and Adams, others mocked the trade by highlighting the Jets and Raiders have the same record of 2-4. One fan commented, “wow… reunited with rodgers,” while another took a jab writing, “Davante Adams going from the dysfunctional Raiders to the dysfunctional Jets.”
Some fans even expressed their disappointment that Adams didn’t land in the Baltimore Ravens with Lamar Jackson. Fans remain skeptical if this trade deal will enhance the Jets’ playoff chances, perhaps the upcoming game against the Pittsburgh Steelers would bring some clarity.
