Even though it’s been two years since the veteran wide receiver Davante Adams left his original team Green Bay Packers, he and quarterback Aaron Rodgers remain one of the most dynamic QB-WR duos ever in the NFL. However, now both of them do not play in Green Bay jersey, but that doesn’t mean they can’t reunite again.
Since the time Rodgers was traded to the New York Jets last offseason, the rumors of him reuniting with his former teammate Adams have been swirling around the internet. In a recent appearance on the Up & Adams show, Adams, who is in contract with the Raiders till the 2026 season, was asked if there’s any possibility of him joining Rodgers in the Jets.
He’s in that ear, that’s for sure. He’s in the ear, but it’s not easy. Obviously, we can get together and talk about the old times and the potential of doing this and that but I’m a Raider and he knows that.Davante Adams said
Despite being in two different teams, Adams and Rodgers are often spotted together during their time off-field and share a close bond with each other. Even if there’s a possibility to see these two together, it can take place via a trade only as Adams’ contract will take three more years to end and Rodgers, who has already entered his 20th season in the NFL, plans to play two or three more seasons before retirement.
Jets’ challenge in affording Davante Adams amid high salaries
As much as the Jets would celebrate having the six-time Pro Bowler, it wouldn’t be easy for them to afford him. Given that they are already paying $112.5 million to the multiple MVP winner quarterback for three years and to have the veteran receiver on board, they would certainly need to create space in the salary cap.

According to Spotrac, the Jets have around $6.09 million in cap space, which will increase up to $63 million next season. However, Adams is set to earn a base salary of around $35 million in the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
But if New York succeeded in having the dynamic duo with them and added Adams to their receiving corps of Garrett Wilson, Allen Lazard, Mike Williams, and Xavier Gipson– they could reclaim their Super Bowl contender status easily.
