Veteran star Davante Adams has finally found a new team to call his own, and judging from his words, it’s a team of his choice. However, he didn’t immediately agree to join the New York Jets even though his former teammate, Aaron Rodgers, has been convincing him to join them since last season, but the wide receiver had been insistent on staying in Las Vegas until this month.
It’s widely known that Adams was not happy with the Raiders’ 2-4 record, especially after the failure of last season. A few weeks ago, the Raiders began approaching different teams across the league who previously asked for a trade deal for the three-time All-Pro receiver. Shortly after this, he officially requested a trade from Las Vegas.
During his first media conference as a Jets’ wide receiver on Wednesday, Adams recently opened up about what forced him to request a trade and how things went sideways between him and Las Vegas.
I want to feel like I can impact the game every time I touch the field. Having the confidence that I’ll be able to make some plays and change the game, if need be, versus getting out there on the field and feeling like we need too many things to go right in order for me to be successful.
Davante Adams said
With the Jets, the six-time Pro Bowler knows he would be valuable and allowed to play at his best potential, which often didn’t happen in Las Vegas.
And when I say ‘me be successful,’ I don’t mean me going out and having an All-Pro year every time… Sometimes you’ve got to make it easier and get to a situation that allows you to be yourself.
Davante Adams added
Although this trade doesn’t guarantee the Super Bowl for the Jets, if Adams and Rodgers would retain their former chemistry, it certainly improves the odds.

Davante Adams excited to reunite with Aaron Rodgers
While speaking to the media on Wednesday, Adams also opened up about his excitement to play together with his old buddy and veteran quarterback Rodgers. Although they stayed connected after parting ways in Green Bay when Adams joined the Raiders, he feels happy to spend every day with Rodgers.

Adams credits the four-time NFL MVP for making him a better player than the league knows today. From “cerebral approach” to “the attention to detail,” Adams learned to play better gridiron from Rodgers.
Fans will see the reunion of the ten-time Pro Bowler and the veteran wide receiver– one of the greatest quarterback-wideout duo, on the field in week 8 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Jets desperately need a victory in this game to avoid a collapse similar to last season, which is why there are high expectations for this duo.
