Heading to NFL honors on Thursday, fans were certain that legend Eli Manning would be voted into the Hall of Fame in his first year on the ballot since he was under constant spotlight for being among the finalists. Despite this, he didn’t make the cut, a decision that particularly stunned Deion Sanders

A purely statistical analysis might suggest Manning lacked the “glittery” numbers to warrant Hall of Fame considered in the eyes of the majority of voters. However, his legacy in the NFL extends far beyond mere numbers.

In his 16 years with the New York Giants, Manning made the franchise a success in the league after becoming back-to-back Super Bowl champions, that too by defeating the legend Tom Brady twice– being one of the only two quarterbacks to be able to achieve this.

After the 2025 NFL Hall of Famers snubbed him, Sanders was in sheer disbelief as he shared on the Nightcap live episode, hosted by Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson

I’m gonna tell you what I can’t believe — I can’t believe they did that to Eli

Deion Sanders exclaimed

Besides the Giants fans, the NFL fans have debated over Manning’s induction into the Hall of Fame, but if the Colorado Buffaloes’ head coach was to ask, he wouldn’t hesitate for a second before voting a ‘yes’ to that question. This disappointment was heightened even more upon the realization that Eli wouldn’t be able to join his brother, Peyton Manning, who was inducted as a first-year ballot Hall of Famer in 2021.

Eli Manning made his peace with Hall of Fame snub

Unlike his fans, the Giants legend has made his peace with the results of the Hall of Fame induction from the Class of 2025. Though he would be honored on the induction, he knows his time will come someday. And above everything, he certainly doesn’t regret how he spent his time in the NFL.

I had a feeling it wasn’t going to be my night, and I understand that. I’m totally at peace. It’s not gonna change my outlook on my career and how I feel about it

Eli Manning told Jamie Erdahl of the NFL Network

Despite the two back-to-back Super Bowl trophies and Super Bowl MVP award, Eli always fell short of making it to the top quarterbacks in the league, which ESPN observed could have been the reason why he did not get elected as the first-year ballot like his brother.
