‘Deiveson Figueiredo’, the kind of Flyweight champion UFC deserve after ‘Mighty Mouse’
Deiveson Figueiredo, UFC’s flyweight champion has shut the mouth of all his haters with his win against Alex Perez by a guillotine choke in the very first round at UFC 255. Not only this after his spectacular performance he is ready to defend his title again in just 21 days at UFC 256 against Brandon Moreno.
Figueiredo if wins the fight against Moreno after it is finalized, it is going to be the fastest title defense for any of the UFC champions in a minimum number of days. It is quite obvious that UFC wants to promote the Flyweight division as it isn’t that popular in comparison to the other division.
But with Figueiredo, they can push it forward because he is the guy that is about to start a new reign at the Flyweight division, the division that is the home of one of the UFC’s greatest fighter Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson.
Figueiredo is an exciting champion to carry the mantle
While Deiveson Figueiredo was giving the show for the audience at UFC 255, the commentary team can be seen talking about claiming that Figueiredo is an exciting champion to carry the mantle at the Lightweight division. This is quite respectful to the former UFC top pound-for-pound ranked fighter Demetrious Johnson.
‘Mighty Mouse’ is the guy that knocked out Joseph Benavidez in a more impressive way than Figueiredo. Johnson is also the same guy who tossed one of the UFC fighters in the air and applied an armbar on him like he is a practice dummy.
For Figueiredo, it is quite early for him to compare him to Demetrious Johnson as he is still in the very early days of his title defense. ‘Mighty Mouse’ holds the winning streak of 13 fights in UFC along with 11 title defenses.
It was Figueiredo’s only first title defense he still has a long way to go to fill in the shoes of Demetrious Johnson but this guy holds great capabilities and we don’t know what lies ahead for the champion.
