Delhi ISSF WC: Ganemat-Angad Vir win Skeet Mixed Team event, 7th gold for India

India’s gold rush at the ISSF World Cup New Delhi continues unabated; today was the turn of the Mixed Skeet pair of Angad Vir Singh Bajwa and Ganemat Sekhon to win the coveted medal for the host nation.
The Indian duo beat the Kazakhstan team of Olga Panarina and Alexandr Yechshenko 33-29. The two teams were neck-and neck at the halfway mark; post that the Indians capitalized on a number of missed shots by the Kazakhstanis.
This is the 2nd medal won by both Ganemat and Angad Vir in the current World Cup. Earlier Ganemat had won India’s first-ever bronze in the Women’s individual event while Angad Vir had won the Men’s team gold yesterday.
The other Indian team of Mairaj Ahmad Khan and Parinaaz Dhaliwal weren’t as lucky, narrowly missing out on medal chances twice today. They first lost a finals place to Kazakhstan after a tie-break and then narrowly lost 31-32 to Qatar (Reem Al Sharshani and Rashid Hamad) in the bronze medal match.
Men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions qualifications
All three Indians qualified for the Men’s 50m Rifle 3P event to be held tomorrow. Sanjeev Rajput with 1172 topped qualifications, Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar was 5th with 1165-56x and Niraj Kumar finished 8th with 1165-46x.
Women’s 25m Pistol
Rahi Sarnobat, Chinki Yadav and Manu Bhaker are occupying the top 3 positions at the end of the Precision Stage of Women’s 25m Pistol. The Rapid Fire stage and finals for this event will be held tomorrow.
