Delhi Police on lookout for Sushil Kumar and other suspects in Chhatrasal Stadium firing case

The Delhi Police have formed several special teams to trace down Indian wrestling icon and two-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar and various other suspects associated with an incident at the Chhatrasal Stadium where one person was murdered and many were injured. Further, one double-barrel loaded gun has been seized and one suspect has already been held by the police following investigation.

The incident allegedly took place on Tuesday when several wrestlers at the stadium were left injured following a brawl which broke out among themselves. The injured people were rushed to a hospital after the brawl died down, but one wrestler succumbed to his injuries. The police then undertook an investigation on the matter and have now named Sushil Kumar among various others as suspects.

Addition Deputy Commissioner of Police in the North West District of Delhi, Guriqbal Singh Sidhu released a statement today about the incident and said, “Several teams have been formed to trace suspects, including Sushil Kumar. We are investigating the role of the wrestler as allegations have been made against him, we sent our team to his house but he was not found.”

“During the course of the investigation, information regarding the death of an injured wrestler Sagar and injury to an other was received from Trauma Centre Civil Lines, Delhi. Several teams have been formed to trace out the alleged persons. Technical evidence relating to this incident have been obtained,” Sidhu added.

He further mentioned the at five vehicles, two wooden sticks and a double-barrel loaded gun with five live cartridges were seized from the area of crime. It is noteworthy that when ANI reached out to Sushil Kumar soon after the incident, the wrestler had denied any wrongdoing.

“They weren’t our wrestlers, it happened late last night. We have informed police officials that some unknown people jumped into our premises and fought. No connection of our stadium with this incident,” Sushil had said. Further investigation is in progress at the moment.
