Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin is arguably the best racer to never win a championship in the NASCAR history, above the likes of Mark Martin and Junior Johnson. From his two-decade long Cup career, he has won 54 races, including three Daytona 500 wins. He is one of the most accomplished drivers in the crown jewel races.
Recently Denny Hamlin talked about his opinion about the lack of championships and pointed out that the title isn’t his main priority. He pointed out that winning races and getting higher in the elite list of race winner is much significant for him than winning the coveted NASCAR Cup Series championship.
But Hamlin still wants to win the championship, and he has the best shot at doing it this season Despite struggles in the R-16, he is back in the contention for the 2024 championship. He is the biggest threat to Hendrick Motorsports’ Kyle Larson.
Denny Hamlin is okay with ending career without a championship
Though he slightly desperate to end his career as a champion, he is okay with failing to do so. He pointed out that his family and friends really want him to win the title just like he does, but even if he doesn’t, he is okay with it.
The comments from Hamlin are on point, as his career is already first ballot Hall of Fame worthy. He has already proved he is better than some former NSASCAR champions and has more to contribute to the sport as a team-owner than anyone ever could.
