Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin’s NASCAR team 23XI Racing created history last Sunday at Darlington Raceway as they defeated Hendrick Motorsports’ Kyle Larson to win the regular season championship with Tyler Reddick. The win is special considering the teams was formed just four years ago in 2021.

The win was the product of the consistency of Tyler Reddick and the quality cars the No:45 team has fielded over the years. It will give the team a huge advantage going into the playoffs, as the 15 bonus points that comes with the title will enable them to take more risks during the playoffs. Denny Hamlin is over the moon with the championship win but does have some complaints around it.

He was pretty disappointed with NASCAR as no one from the sanctioning body was present in the ceremony of presenting the championship trophy to the No:45 team. This might be because of the ongoings standoff between NASCAR and 23XI over the new charter agreement, with both parties making huge demands.

Denny Hamlin takes another shot at NASCAR over charter deal

The 23XI Racing co-owner recently continued his criticism of the sanctioning body over the charter agreement that hasn’t been signed yet. He asserted that despite claims a new deal will be reached before the playoffs start, the talks are stagnant.

Hamlin then took shot at NASCAR claiming they haven’t been reasonable with the teams and needs to wake up. It seems 23XI isn’t close to being satisfied with how the deals and talks are currently being conducted.

Stagnant… One side will have to wake up and be reasonable. That’s all.
Denny Hamlin said.

It’s clear that Hamlin won’t be stopping the criticism over the charter agreement anytime soon and the stand off might continue beyond the playoffs. It will be interesting to see how the deal and talks around it will continue as the season continues.
