Derek Brunson urges UFC to book him as a replacement for Curtis Blaydes against Derrick Lewis for UFC Vegas 15

Derrick Lewis was initially matched to fight Curtis Blaydes in a crucial heavyweight bout at UFC Vegas 15, making the winner closer to earning a shot at the UFC heavyweight title.
Lewis versus Blaydes matchup was determined to have a five-round headliner fight at UFC Vegas 15. Nonetheless, a day prior to the occasion, it was reported that Blaydes tested positive for COVID-19 and was forced to pull out of the fight.
UFC heavyweight Lewis is left without an opponent for his exciting return of the Octagon. Relatively few heavyweights would acknowledge a matchup against Lewis on one day’s notice, and regardless of whether they do, the UFC is probably not going to book the bout without prior warning.
Despite all this last minute chaos, challenger Derek Brunson is ready to step up and take the fight against Lewis to rescue the main event at UFC Vegas 15.
Brunson makes the offer
“Derek Brunson vs Derrick Lewis . I’m about 210 right now ! Book my flight UFC” said Brunson as he took to twitter to ask UFC to replace Blaydes for him to headline the main event.
Brunson, at present, weighs around 210 pounds, subsequently making him qualified to contend in the heavyweight (205-265 pounds) division.
He aims to set up a fight for him in the heavyweight division as he weighs 210 pounds which certainly is excessive for his 185-pound division. If the fight does take place this will be a new division to him. But, fans already think he will be comfortable in this division as he is currently walking around in heavyweight division weight and it won’t be a problem for him to take up the fight on short notice with regards to making weight or not.
But unfortunately, the UFC Vegas 15 fight card’s co-main event figh that was a light heavyweight fight between Anthony Smith and Devin Clark is set to be main event bout.
Speculation still exist and it is believed that Blaydes and Lewis will fight down the line once the conditions are right for them. Till then it will give Brunson enough time to smoothly make it to the heavyweight division.
