The UFC veteran Derek Brunson displayed a clinical performance against Kevin Holland on UFC Fight Night: Brunson vs Holland. Brunson was an underdog entering into this fight but he broke Holland’s five-fight undefeated streak and showed all he isn’t only the gatekeeper of the Middleweight division.
With this win, Derek Brunson moved to number 5th in the Middleweight rankings and now he is waiting for his next opponent. Although after his win against Kevin Holland, he called out Paulo Costa to face him next.
Costa didn’t respond to his call out and Brunson now claims that the number 6th ranked UFC Middleweight fighter Darren Till agreed to face him next. In his latest interview with ESPN, Brunson says,
“I think that’s a fight I’d like to have. I always wanted to fight Till. He’s a very good standup, very tricky guy. He has a huge following, I think it’d be a big fight.”
“I wanted to fight Costa, but he’s not saying much, so maybe I’ll let that rest a little bit. And Till wants to fight; I want to fight; so I think that’s a fight we can get done.” {H/T MMA News}

The UFC Middleweight champion Israel Adesanya is booked to face Marvin Vettori for his next title defense. But before this fight, he showed interest to face Darren Till.
Till was booked to face Vettori but he pulled out his name due to an injury. This presented Marvin Vettori’s title shot and Till believes with a win against someone like Brunson he can get the next title shot.
Derek Brunson also believes that Darren Till is a great matchup for him and this can get him a rematch against Adesanya. Brunson added, “We speak more in DMs than we do on Twitter.”
“He talks a lot of trash; I talk a lot of trash to him. But it’s all fun and games. Like I said, he wants to fight me, I want to fight him. I think Izzy wanted to fight him next, but he gotta win a fight.” {H/T MMA News}
“So it’s a good opportunity for both of us. We both wanna get that title shot and fight Izzy or whoever the champion is, and we both need wins to do that, so I think that’s a marquee fight to make.”
Derek Brunson concluded, “I think he’s a game opponent. He’s gonna come out there and fight you. He’s got a win over Wonderboy, Wonderboy has a win over Whittaker, So he’s definitely a reputable opponent, and he has a high skill set. He’s very tricky.” {H/T MMA News}
