The UFC Heavyweight fighter Francis Ngannou won the championship at UFC 260 in a rematch against Stipe Miocic. Now, UFC president Dana White made it clear that Ngannou will be defending his title for the first time in a rematch against number 2nd ranked UFC Heavyweight fighter, Derrick Lewis.

Lewis already holds a victory over Francis Ngannou earlier and the promotion is targeting this fight for August. When they both faced each other first time at UFC 226 the fight went to three rounds and Lewis won it by unanimous decision of the judges.

But this time Lewis vows this fight to be a banger as he is ready to kill or get killed by Francis Ngannou. In his latest interview with ESPN, Derrick Lewis says, “It’s gonna be a fun fight,”

Lewis continued, “It’s gonna be five rounds, so it’s not gonna be five rounds of a snooze fest. It’s gonna be five rounds of swinging and banging, so it’s gonna be interesting to see. I’m excited about it.”

“I will say the first exchange, I’ll knock him out in the first exchange. I almost knocked out Curtis Blaydes in the first exchange, too, but he got on that bike and he took off running.” {H/T MMA Junkie}

He added, “I feel that in my heart, especially if he comes out the way he’s been coming out to all his other guys, especially the way he came out against Jairzinho Rozenstruik. If he tries to come out and fight me the same way, then I’ll knock him out for sure.”

Derrick Lewis blames himself for their first face-off to be boring

The first faceoff between Francis Ngannou and Derrick Lewis wasn’t even close to what the fans actually expected. Both of them gassed out at the end of the first round and the fight becomes very lethargic in the end and Lewis blamed himself for it.

Derrick Lewis says, “I blame myself, It really wasn’t his fault. I’m not gonna sit up here and blame him. I’m gonna say it was my fault mostly.”

“I came in that fight in half-as*ed training and didn’t take care of my body the way I was supposed to that fight, so I blame myself. Now that I’m more experienced, I know that what I need to do to really get the job done.” {H/T MMA Junkie}
