Recently, a series of tragic events occurred when San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall was shot. The incident has shocked the entire sports world. The rookie was shot during an attempted robbery at Geary and Grant Street in Union Square just before 4 p.m. Multiple shootings occurred amidst the busy Saturday afternoon in Union Square, San Francisco.
The sports world has been reacting to this terrible news since the reports first began coming out, with Los Angeles Lakers star, LeBron James being one of the latest prominent athletes to speak out. James’ close friend had stated his feelings about just being at home due to such situations. James reacted to this through his ‘X’ account.
Ricky Pearsall was in the area as part of a charity drive when the suspect attempted to steal his Rolex watch, according to reports from the Police. Eyewitnesses near the situation confirmed that the suspect shot Pearsall in the chest. The suspect then shot himself while trying to escape. Both Pearsall and the suspect were taken to the hospital. A video has surfaced online showing the 49ers’ first-round pick being taken into an ambulance. In the video, he was seen pressing a shirt against the blood covering his right chest.
