The NBA world has a huge match on the cards on Friday as the Phoenix Suns, led by Devin Booker and Dillon Brooks, take on the Golden State Warriors, led by veterans Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. It is expected to be a thrilling contest between two sides looking for a place in the playoffs.
The Suns awaited the winner of the Warriors-Los Angeles Clippers matchup after losing to the Portland Trail Blazers in their first game of the Play-In Tournament. Brooks revealed that he was eager to face the Warriors, with a playoff spot on the line.
I think it matters to some people like myself. I would like to see the Warriors.
When asked why he preferred to play the Warriors, Brooks said:
Steph and Draymond. And Steve Kerr.

Dillon Brooks has happily embraced the role of a villain in the NBA. He has built a controversial reputation for getting under the skin of his opponents with his trash talk and physical play. The 30-year-old has had a few feuds this season, including with LeBron James.
While Brooks revealed that he wanted to face the Warriors because they bring experience and battle-testedness, he also shares some history with them. During his time with the Memphis Grizzlies, he was caught in a few heated moments with the Dubs.
Earlier this season, Brooks committed a questionable play on Stephen Curry that nearly injured the four-time champion. The play was labeled as one of the dirtiest plays ever by Warriors head coach Steve Kerr.
A couple of months ago, Brooks and Draymond Green had a rift when the former blamed Green for the decline of stars in the NBA because they are focused on their podcasts. The comments did not go down very well with the former Defensive Player of the Year. Therefore, there is a lot of history between the two, which makes the clash a lot more enthralling.
Dillon Brooks only wanted to win after being traded to the Phoenix Suns
While some may label Dillon Brooks’ personality as controversial, some may go as far as to call him a culture setter. After trading Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal in the offseason, it was believed that the Suns were looking to hit the reset button and start rebuilding. With just Booker on the side, it was assumed that the Suns would be a lottery pick in a highly competitive Western Conference.
However, that has not been the case. The arrival of Brooks has seen the Canadian international emerge as the leader of the team. The Suns finished at seventh place in the Western Conference standings with a 45-37 record.

In an interview, Brooks spoke about his mindset when he got traded to the Suns in the offseason.
I saw what people around the league were saying. The suns are blowing it up. They’re gonna be rebuilding for years. They want picks. My mentality was fu*k that. Let’s win.

Brooks has been one of the best two-way players in the league this season. His performances have led to the NBA community backing him to be a first-time All-Star this year. Unfortunately, that did not happen.
Can Dillon Brooks have the last laugh over Stephen Curry and Draymond Green?
Last year, Dillon Brooks, who was playing for the Houston Rockets, clashed against the Warriors in the first round of the playoffs. It was a closely fought and physical series between the two sides. However, in the end, the Warriors showed their playoff experience and came out on top in seven games.
But things are different this year. The Warriors have been a subpar side since Jimmy Butler’s ACL tear in the end of January. The season-ending injury ended their hopes of a deep postseason run.
The Suns and Warriors have faced off four times in the regular season, with the Warriors coming out on top in three of those matchups. Hence, the Dubs will be confident of their chances at the Mortgage Matchup Center on Friday night. However, two of those three wins were with Butler in the lineup.
Brooks and the Suns have had an extra day to rest and prepare. They were looking to book their place in the playoffs after missing it last year. The winner of the Suns-Warriors clash will take on the defending champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder, in the first round.
