“What in the world of overpays” – Dolphins making Jalen Ramsey highest-paid CB ‘again’ with $24.1M per year extension sparks WILD reaction on social media

Jalen Ramsey has made history for the second time in his career by inking a three-year $72.3 million contract with the Miami Dolphins that makes him the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL yet again. The new deal will earn him $24.1 million per year with $55.3 million in guaranteed money.
Adam Schefter of ESPN revealed the details of Jalen Ramsey’s new contract and head coach Mike McDaniel confirmed the same. With this contract, Ramsey will be on track to amass the highest career earnings for a cornerback in NFL history.
His deal comes just days after Pat Surtain II’s deal with the Denver Broncos, which pays him $24 million per year. The Dolphins and Ramsey had been negotiating an extension for weeks and finalized it shortly after the cornerback market witnessed a reset.
Jalen Ramsey brings consistency and leadership experience to the Dolphins DB room
Ramsey arrived in Miami as a result of a trade for a third-round pick and tight end Hunter Long with the Los Angeles Rams. A knee injury limited him to 10 games last season, but it did not stop him from having a positive impact on the field with 3 interceptions and his seventh trip to the Pro Bowl.

The new contract extension does not seem to sit well with fans who believe the Dolphins might have overpaid Jalen Ramsey. He is getting up there in age, although 29 years of age. For a cornerback, that is when their performance begins to tank. Here are some of the reactions from fans second-guessing the Dolphins’ decision to pay Ramsey such a huge amount.
He’s old.

Ramsey’s availability on opening night remains doubtful as he has not practiced the entire week owing to a hamstring injury. His new contract is a testament to his talent and skillset as a corner. Ramsey has remained a consistent threat against the best wide receivers in the game since his days playing for the Jacksonville Jaguars and has continued to do so.
