Denver Broncos signed Patrick Surtain II ninth overall in the 2021 NFL Draft from Alabama Crimson Tide. He made quick waves in his rookie season, coming into play for the first time against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He started in 15 of the 16 he appeared, registering 58 tackles and 4 interceptions in his rookie season.

In the last season, Patrick Surtain II was one of the bright spots lately in Denver. The Broncos won just eight games, failing to qualify for the postseason for the eighth time in a row. In the last two seasons, he has managed 129 tackles, a forced fumble in 2022, and one interception in 2023.

Fans react to Patrick Surtain II’s deal with the Broncos

The Broncos currently in a rebuild are gunning towards coming back to playoffs. They have not qualified for the postseason after their Super Bowl-winning season in 2015. They have acquired rookie Bo Nix who will be the QB1 as well as a captain for the Broncos.

Nix will be starting ahead of Zach Wilson, who has marginally gotten better after a disappointing season with the Jets. With the Surtain II deal confirmed, the Broncos are developing an offense and defense together to reclaim their honor.

The NFL X community has received the news very well. There have been many users who have voiced that Surtain II is the best CB in the league and the deal is well deserved on many levels. A couple of them even tweeted that it felt like an underpay despite the huge sum.

A user commented that it is high time that corners are getting their fair share for their role in an NFL team.

Although, the majority are happy with the decision and call it a solid decision from the Broncos.’ side, some weren’t convinced.

The fans won’t have to wait much longer to see how the deal has paid off. The Broncos play the Seahawks on Sunday before playing former QB Russell Wilson’s Pittsburgh Steelers.
