Dominic Thiem doesn’t think winning Grand Slam titles will be ‘easier’ after Big 3’s retirement because of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz

Three players ruled on tennis courts for decades and denied many the chance to win more Grand Slam titles. Roger Federer bade farewell to tennis and Rafael Nadal will soon follow suit. Then in a few years, after Novak Djokovic‘s retirement, there won’t be a member of the Big 3 on tennis courts.
Dominic Thiem doesn’t think the retirement of these players will make it easier for the others to win the major titles. Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have already started dominating in Grand Slam events and Thiem believes players like Alexander Zverev, Daniil Medvedev, and Stefanos Tsitsipas will have to battle it out against the two youngsters to add those coveted cups to their respective trophy cabinets.
He also thinks the situation may not change even after Alcaraz and Sinner’s retirement, as new talented youngsters will emerge to rule the tennis world. Thiem is the winner of the 2020 US Open and has reached the French Open finals twice and the Australian Open final once. In all three finals, he was defeated by Djokovic and Nadal.
Dominic Thiem says he will forever remember the matches against the Big 3
Dominic Thiem has defeated all three members of the Big 3 many times. He is 6-10 against Rafael Nadal, 5-7 against Novak Djokovic, and leads 5-2 in his head-to-head contest against Roger Federer.
Like Nadal, the 31-year-old Austrian will also hang up his racket this year. One of the reasons behind his decision to retire at this age is his wrist injury. The home tournament in Vienna will be the last event of his career. In the Vienna Open, he will lock horns with Luciano Darderi in his opening round.
