AJ Styles has been breathing down Dominik Mysterio‘s neck for the last few months. Their beef has now come down to a point where the reigning Intercontinental Champion is accusing the veteran wrestler of harassing him. Mysterio took to Instagram Stories and posted a screenshot of Styles in his DMs. ‘The Phenomenal One’ had sent ‘Dirty Dom’ a picture of the latter from his childhood.
Styles hilariously wrote that he’s going to whoop Mysterio’s “a*s.” In retaliation, ‘Dirty Dom’ tagged ‘Mr. TNA’ and urged the 48-year-old to leave him alone. The San Diego native termed it a case of harassment and even called for the FBI to probe into how Styles got his number. The netizens were blown away by the aforementioned exchange, which was meant to advance the storyline between Mysterio and Styles.
For the unversed, Rey Mysterio‘s son had been ducking the former OC leader for weeks, citing he’s not medically cleared to compete. Styles has been long overdue for a crack at the IC title, which is why ‘The Georgia Pitbull’ is leaving no stone unturned to make life difficult for the Judgment Day member. These two have been involved in several comedic backstage segments of late.

A couple of weeks ago, on Raw, Styles dramatically pulled out his reading glasses to read the doctor’s note from Mysterio. Moreover, last Monday, Adam Pearce informed Liv Morgan’s boyfriend that he would be re-evaluated by the medical staff at WWE to determine his physical condition. If the doctors end up clearing ‘Dirty Dom’ to compete, he’d be booked to defend his IC title against Styles at SummerSlam.
AJ Styles is chasing championship glory at the twilight of his WWE career
The ongoing issues between AJ Styles and Dominik Mysterio have been simmering since before the Backlash PLE in May. A couple of months have gone by, and ‘The Phenomenal One’ has yet to receive his title shot. Reports have already confirmed that they’re on course to collide at MetLife Stadium at SummerSlam.

Styles hasn’t held singles gold in WWE since the summer of 2020. He’d definitely want to end that drought, especially with the fact that he’s already set a time limit on his career. The Gainesville-born grappler told Chris Van Vliet earlier this year that he plans on calling it quits before turning 50.
‘The Face That Runs the Place’ celebrated his 48th birthday last month. In essence, he has less than a couple of years left to continue what he knows best—wrestling. Also, as per Fightful Select, Styles recently signed a year-long extension with WWE amid rumors of him leaving the company for AEW.

‘The Georgia Pitbull’ had missed a plethora of time from October of last year to February due to an unfortunate Lisfranc injury that he sustained. But now that it’s in his rearview mirror, the wrestling icon would hope to stay injury-free for the remainder of his tenure inside the squared circle.
What did AJ Styles do upon his return to TNA?
On Sunday night, AJ Styles reverted to the territory that truly put him on the map—TNA. The promotion celebrated its 23rd anniversary by staging a record-shattering Slammiversary event at the UBS Arena in Belmont Park. It drew over 7,600 fans and became the highest-attended TNA show in North America.

The major highlight of the night was a special appearance from Styles, which was his first in the company since 2013. ‘The Phenomenal One’ came out to his old theme song, ‘Get Ready to Fly,’ which he admittedly hates, but the crowd loved it.

Styles interrupted Leon Slater, who’d just ousted Moose to capture the TNA X-Division Championship. Slater, at 20 years old, became the youngest champion in the company’s history. Styles congratulated him and hailed Slater as the future of TNA’s X-Division. The current Raw star affirmed that it’s time for Slater to make his legacy.
