So it’s true! Super Bowl LIX Championship seems to have earned the Philadelphia Eagles an invite to the White House by President Donald Trump himself.

Lately, there have been rumors around the football community that Philly has been invited to meet the U.S. President, who especially cleared his calendar for a historic appearance at the Super Bowl game against the Kansas City Chiefs on February 9. On Tuesday, President Trump confirmed the news, hoping to appreciate the Eagles for their performance as they rightly deserved.

They will be. We haven’t yet, but we will be [extending an invitation]. I thought it was a great performance by them. Absolutely, they’ll be extended that invitation… We’re going to do that sometime today. They deserve to be down here and we hope to see them.

According to US Media, the Eagles were also formally invited to the White House in 2018, when they earned their first franchise Vince Lombardi Trophy. However, due to some reason, the invitation was revoked after the Eagles declined it. But this year, they plan to honor it and are eager to continue the tradition of visiting the White House after winning the Super Bowl dating back to the 19th century.

Interestingly, during Trump’s first tenure as the U.S. President, only the New England Patriots made its way to the White House among the four teams that had won. Over the past decade, there have been a few instances where Super Bowl-winning franchises have declined the invitation to make a political statement.

Why Eagles’ 2018 Donald Trump’s white house visit was canceled?

Previously, when the Eagles turned down the invitation after the remarkable victory by defeating the legendary Tom Brady-led Patriots, the White House made an official statement. They claimed that the Eagles opposed the Republican leader’s view of honoring the great men and women of America by proudly standing for the national anthem.

The Philadelphia Eagles are unable to come to the White House with their full team to be celebrated tomorrow. They disagree with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart, in honor of the great men and women of our country. The Eagles wanted to send a smaller delegation, but the 1,000 fans planning to attend the event deserve better.

However, the Eagles made no effort to admit or deny the claim by the President’s office. Thus, President Trump invited a group of Eagles fans to celebrate the “American flag,” instead of their favorite team’s Super Bowl triumph, meanwhile, the Eagles held a practice session on the same day.
