President Donald Trump watched nearly the entire game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden.

Donald Trump arrived at Madison Square Garden for the first time since he campaigned in the iconic venue months before taking the oath as the 47th President of the United States.
That time, he stood on what would be center court and rallied his supporters to vote for him. The campaign worked, which is why he is now in his second term.
With that term comes the need to be secure at all times. After facing two attempts on his life and almost a third, the Secret Service will not take anything for granted.
That is why the 79-year-old had to sit in the luxury suite behind bulletproof glass. Had it been when he was just a real estate mogul and a reality TV star, Donald Trump would have been sitting alongside New York Knicks fans.
In the past, he has sat courtside as a die-hard fan. But now, since his security is the country’s responsibility, the Queens native had to sit far away from the action.

That could be the reason why Donald Trump fell asleep during Game 3 of the NBA Finals. The President had Knicks owner and close supporter James Dolan sitting beside him. Yet, he could not stop himself from taking a nap.
Fans troll Donald Trump and Knicks after President falls asleep
Naturally, videos of this instance were going to spread on social media. In fact, more than any other video, this clip of Donald Trump sleeping during Game 3 spread like wildfire.
It is not as if near 80-year-old’s cannot catch a nap. But it was in the midst of a game. Fans felt this entire scenario summed up how the Knicks fared in this game against the San Antonio Spurs.
Some took shots at Trump for showing up and jinxing the team’s 13-win run. Others felt that his sleeping was a slap in the face of passionate fans who stood hours outside MSG to get in. Check out examples of those reactions below.

Inconvenienced thousands of people just to sleep through part of the game. And then the knicks lost. What a bunch of morons you maga supporters are. Unreal.

Ngl him being there killed the vibe of Game 3. They better hope Trump isn’t there for Game 4 or Game 6 if it comes to it

Sleepy Trump cheated the city out of a proper fan experience just to take a nap at the stadium

The crowd paid to watch the final. Trump apparently paid for the world's most expensive nap.

To Donald Trump’s credit, he works quite a lot of hours for someone that old. Numerous journalists who accompany him to foreign visits have corroborated that fact.
So, for him to take a momentary pause when he does not have to do anything else could be justified. This was unlike when he appeared at NFL games, which were brief, in contrast to the hours he sat while Game 3 was in session.
Knicks drop Game 3 in the presence of Donald Trump
It is also possible that Donald Trump fell asleep because the usually noisy New York Knicks fans were not behaving to their usual standards.

That was because, despite the home team having the upper hand at halftime, the San Antonio Spurs turned the game around in the second half.
Victor Wembanyama stuffed the stat sheets with 32 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals, and 3 blocks. He essentially silenced the Knicks crowd for good and ensured his team reduced the series deficit.
After the way the Knicks won the first two games in San Antonio, many were quick to write the Spurs off. Now, they have proven that they can put up a fight. Game 4 at Madison Square Garden will prove whether it is enough.
